Snow Day!

Today there was no school. This rarely happens so it was exciting to have Desi home to play in the snow! Emma had never been out before. Desi was really patient since Emma kept wanting to go in and then when Desi would get her to the door she would change her mind!

Smile for Mommy!

Alex is ready!!

I sure like my "snow outfit"!!

Desi showing Emma "the ropes" of playing in the snow!

This is fun!!

Alex's Pre-school Program

Today we went to Alex's pre-school program. The kids were so cute! When we got there, Miss Laura was reading to the kids. When she was done, Miss Sue said they could go say "hi" to their mom's and dad's. All the kids went but Alex! Later he warmed up, but I think he was nervous!

Conversation with Alex...

At night, our routine is to read a book with Alex and then talk about his day. He absolutely loves that time to have both Joe's and my undivided attention! Well, last night this is how the conversation went...

Alex: Today Emma had a huge booger.

Mommy: OK...

A: We put in on the door.

M: Which door?

A: Mommy and Daddy's door.

(at this point Joe and I are fighting back laughter. What else do you do??)

M: Who put in on the door?

A: I did.

M: Did she give it to you?

A: No, I got it out.

M: Was it in her nose?

A: No, it was right here. (points to right under his nose)

M: Well, we don't put boogers on doors. Next time you guys need to ask for a kleenex.

Pizza with Great Aunt Cheri

Last night we had Aunt Cheri over for a pizza dinner. We loved having her!

Emma was especially attached to her aunt...

Hello there? Can I have some of your pizza?

It has onions and mushrooms? Yeah - it's my day!

This is so much fun! I'm even sneaking onto the table!

Keep it coming!

She sure wasn't happy when Cheri left!

Thanks for hanging out with us Cheri! We loved having you!

Terrible Three's?

Lately Alex has been so...I struggle with the word. Defiant, ornery, naughty??

Today, for example, we went to Target. This was at his request and we were going to look at toys. First, we made a stop at the snack bar. Normally, this is a very fun adventure and we all have a grand time! However, this morning was not the case. He argued that he wanted a bag of Fun-yuns (not sure how to spell that). Anyway, I said no, we would be getting popcorn and breadsticks to share.

Here is what all occurred in the 20 minute snack time..

-he threw a tantrum that I had sat in his chair,

-he argued that he wanted to give Emma more sauce,

-he kept swinging his chair so hard it would hit the table,

-he tried to take Emma's "garbage" (he had thrown away most of it and of course Emma wanted to throw some stuff away, too),

-he climbed on top of the neighboring table (thankfully no one was sitting there),

-he refused to give me back his "big boy glass" (a T.arget water glass) which then spilled all over.

At this point, he was informed that in no way would we be looking at toys and that we were going to get the few things I needed and go home. He threw another tantrum (of course at this point everyone is staring at me like I'm the worst mother ever). We got kleenex and cheese and left.
I want to also point out that he was given appropriate warnings at each step of the way.

Any ideas? Does he want some one on one time with me? I've been thinking of taking him shopping and to lunch on Saturday (if Joe will watch Emma). I'm not sure what to do!

Ultra-sound!

On Saturday, we went to an ultra-sound at Pre-natal Vision. We found out we're having a boy!

His name will be Jackson Charles, and we will call him Jack.

We are so grateful that everything appeared OK! We already love him so much!!
