Lately Alex has been so...I struggle with the word. Defiant, ornery, naughty??
Today, for example, we went to Target. This was at his request and we were going to look at toys. First, we made a stop at the snack bar. Normally, this is a very fun adventure and we all have a grand time! However, this morning was not the case. He argued that he wanted a bag of Fun-yuns (not sure how to spell that). Anyway, I said no, we would be getting popcorn and breadsticks to share.
Here is what all occurred in the 20 minute snack time..
-he threw a tantrum that I had sat in his chair,
-he argued that he wanted to give Emma more sauce,
-he kept swinging his chair so hard it would hit the table,
-he tried to take Emma's "garbage" (he had thrown away most of it and of course Emma wanted to throw some stuff away, too),
-he climbed on top of the neighboring table (thankfully no one was sitting there),
-he refused to give me back his "big boy glass" (a T.arget water glass) which then spilled all over.
At this point, he was informed that in no way would we be looking at toys and that we were going to get the few things I needed and go home. He threw another tantrum (of course at this point everyone is staring at me like I'm the worst mother ever). We got kleenex and cheese and left.
I want to also point out that he was given appropriate warnings at each step of the way.
Any ideas? Does he want some one on one time with me? I've been thinking of taking him shopping and to lunch on Saturday (if Joe will watch Emma). I'm not sure what to do!
