I am completely confused. Today is the third week of Alex's pre-school. When I dropped him off last Thursday, one of the teacher's, "Miss Sue", told me how great he was doing. She said he was always so happy and had a lot of fun. Yeah!! That made me feel so good. I was a little worried since he is the youngest (they have to be three by June 1st).
Well, today was no different. He pretty much skipped and ran the whole way!! He would say, "Look Mommy, I'm running!" In his spider-man back pack was his monster truck for sharing.
I kissed him good-bye and he excitedly bounded into class.
Emma and I walked home. I had a few things to do before I headed out to Wal-Mart for my weekly coupon day. (Much easier with only one child!!)
It was around 9:20 (pre-school started at 9:00) when my cell phone rang. I was about half-way to Wal-Mart when Miss Laura was on the pone. She told me that Alex was crying that he wanted his mommy and that his tummy hurt. She asked if this was normal and I told her that no, it wasn't. I asked if I should talk to him or come and pick him up. She said it was up to me, so I told her I would come and get him.
He was standing in the door way waiting for me, sobbing. He clung to me and told me that he wanted his mommy. He then told me "I just like you."
I'm so confused why he would cry today. I'm already gearing him toward the fact that he will be going on Thursday because he gets to have so much fun.
Any suggestions?? Keep in mind that I have a very soft heart toward my "little man". :)

Did he know you were going somewhere without him? Maybe he thought he would miss out? Perhaps you could stress how much more fun he will be having at preschool? Just a thought.
It could have been something that set him off - even something hours before and completely unrelated. With Kaylen, something as simple as not getting the breakfast cereal she wanted could have caused her to have a bad day at daycare. But with her, it would be misbehaving, not crying and wanting her mommy. Kids are kind of wierd that way.
I agree with Heather though - just stressing that you are always thinking about him and will see him in only a couple hours - and you can't wait to hear about all the fun things he did at preschool...
